Quote of the day: "102.1 Harmison to Ponting, no run, wide and Ponting has to stretch to reach it. "Harmison couldn't hit an elephant from 20 paces?" was Jeff Thomson's assessment earlier. Guess it depends on the size of the elephant." - baggygreen.com

Once in a while true brilliance comes along...

And this ladies and gentlemen is it...

Being an editor I found this on the Australian screeneditors forum where they are talking about the power of editing.

This is so clever in it's simplicity,

Enjoy,

Omg thats genius. Being an editor myself, I reckon that would've been a bitch to edit without a musical mind of some sort, but thankfully I've got both. Not exactly sure how he edited the piano bit where he's playing high and low in video (audio would just be layered) unless he just played it several times then cut it together so it looked fractured.

Are you a professional editor? I'm trying to get into AFTRS to do a Masters in Editing, but at the moment its challenge enough keeping my gpa high enough to change away from a Bachelor of Arts at Macquarie.

Yeah he's done about 5 takes so that it looks increasingly fragmented.

Another editor from Macquarie eh? Good stuff!

Yeah I'm working in North Sydney at the moment after graduating from a BMedia (Visual Production) last year.

Are you doing the media or the arts course? If you're doing media you'll have to say hi to Maree, Andrew and David for me.

At the moment I'm enrolled in a Bachelor of Arts in Macquarie, but only because I had no idea what I wanted to do out of high school. Trying to get into Bachelor in Media, but that depends on my gpa at the end of the year.

What kind of editing you do? Ads, weddings, etc...

Ah thats valid, well the media (visual production) course is a good one. Alternatively if you still want a taste the 200lvl radio course was one of my favourites.

I'm doing a bunch of varied stuff at the moment, a couple of ads, some corporates, cleaning up a couple of home movies, showreels. Pretty much anything that pays for the moment

I know the feeling.

Which screeneditors forum were you talking about, out of interest?
6. November 22nd 2006 @ 23:37. Stuart Says:
www.screeneditors.com

Its the Australian Screen Editors Guild, its not the most active forum in the world but it has good stuff occasionally.

Alot of luminaries in the industry hang around there so there is always good advice on offer.

Also if you're a student you can get a pretty reasonably priced yearly membership!

Now there's a labour of love.

Stuart, my husband hangs around the screen editors forum alot. He showed this to me this morning with the same awe that you expressed.

Don't know if you saw it, but he recently did a video podcast on editing. You can see it on www.outpostpps.com/podcast

Editing is the ultimate labour of love - hard work and little output - true love!

By the way Stuart, if you ever need a part-time assistant editor, I'd be happy to help .

Mrs M, is your husband Enzo?

If he is then its a very small world!

Jimbo - unfortunately mate I'm looking for a new job, I've had so little work that I'm doing this and watching cricket essentially. But if things turn up I'll let you know.

Enzo is my beloved. Do you know him?

So what's the score on the cricket?
11. November 23rd 2006 @ 03:32. Stuart Says:
I know of him, I've read alot of his stuff on the forums. He's a very busy bee.

2/150 in the cricket, going pretty well.

You wouldn't happen to know if Enzo needs another pair of hands at outpostpps? I've been getting almost no work at my current post-production house and can get up to Crows Nest quite easily (I live in North Sydney).

If there isn't anything going thats cool too, just thought this is too good a 'small world' to let fly by!!

Hey Stuart,

If you go to outpost website you'll find his email there. Just drop him a line and send your CV.

I think it's going to be quiet over Xmas but you never know you're luck in the new year.

Totally agree about not letting opportunities slip by. Gotta grab them as they come up.

BTW, The drummer/piano dude in your post has done another video - beatboxing. This is his channel http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=lassegg
