Quote of the day: "102.1 Harmison to Ponting, no run, wide and Ponting has to stretch to reach it. "Harmison couldn't hit an elephant from 20 paces?" was Jeff Thomson's assessment earlier. Guess it depends on the size of the elephant." - baggygreen.com

Some of my work: Zombie

In a slight change of pace, I thought I'd show the orble community a bit of my own work.

The following is a short film I was involved in during uni. It was the first major short I worked on and is still one of my favourites.

Let me know if you like it, I might just be persuaded to add a couple more online.

Once in a while true brilliance comes along...

And this ladies and gentlemen is it...

Being an editor I found this on the Australian screeneditors forum where they are talking about the power of editing.

This is so clever in it's simplicity,

Enjoy,

He's a doctor... And a Ninja! What're the best comics on the internet?

If I could draw, I'd be a webcomic artist.

However I can't draw, so instead I spend my time admiring webcomic artists. Yet what I've come to notice is that the style of comics people respond to are quite varied and highly subjective.

As a result I've decided to add a new section to mediated.com.au, webbed. The corner of the world devoted to all things electronic and intangible. The meeting place of the world wide web (well its definitely not THAT predominant on the internet but you get my drift.)

And what better way to kick off than by sharing my top 3 web comics which allow my week to tick over a little easier.

BRONZE MEDAL CTRL ALT DEL
Davan - The Housemate from hell2

The webcomic that invented Winter-een-xmas, the national holiday week dedicated to gamers, this series by Tim Buckley never fails to get a good belly laugh from me. In many respects I see it as a warning to keep my life balanced otherwise I could end up like Davan. Crazed, entirely self absorbed, naive yet quirkily brilliant. Home of my favourite reanimated XBox robot Zeke complete with a good and evil switch.

Sometimes I find the comic a touch too random, but maybe that's because I'm trying too hard to hold onto my sanity.

SILVER MEDAL Dr McNinja
There's Ninjas, and Pirates, and Evil McDonalds Clowns! What more could you want?

I do believe the image caption sums up the joy of Dr McNinja perfectly. Ninjas, Pirates, Clowns, and constant references to Batman, its a teenage dream comic.

Personally I quite enjoy the fact that Dr McNinja is inked like a traditional comic then scanned for the internet. Tradition has its values sometimes. What I truly admire is it's tightrope balance between action and the absurd. Continual references to Gen Y childhood pepper this clever intertextual piece. But ultimately it's never to show off, rather it's always to achieve a laugh.

GOLD MEDAL The Order of The Stick
If I only had a brain...

Oots, as the comic is affectionately known by its regulars is a self-referential Dungeons and Dragons spoof comic.

Initially it relied on parodying weird rulesets and D& injokes to get its laughs, however Rick Burlew has greatly expanded the reportoire of this comic to include references to Monty Python, Mission Impossible and many many more.

The simply drawn characters hide just how clever and complex this comic is. I check the internet every day to see if this comic has been updated and I'm never dissapointed.

Well thats the whole shebang, the top 3 of internet comics by mediated.com.au. Whilst I seldom ask for comments, I'd really love to hear your thoughts on the top 3. In particular if you have a favourite that was unjustly overlooked then drop the URL down and I look forward to checking out it.

All the best
